American Airlines Website Disses Innocent Cape Cod In Two Ways
American Airlines recently landed in a digital blunder after posting the wrong photo of Cape Cod on its website, misidentifying a landmark and accompanying it with a grammatical oversight.
The mishap came to light thanks to the keen eye of Reddit user iBarbo. American Airlines had intended to promote new flights serving Hyannis (HYA).
However, instead of including an image of the Cape, it showcased Portland Head Light, a beautiful beacon in Maine.
At some point, the airline realized it had made a mistake and replaced the image with one of the actual Cape. Meanwhile, another error slipped through the cracks.
"Relax in Cape Cod this summer," the text reads.
While the sentiment is clear, "in" is out of place. Everyone knows it's "on Cape Cod," not "in Cape Cod."

A minor detail? Perhaps, but it didn't escape sharp Cape Codders on Reddit. It's a reminder of what folks to our south go through when people say "on the Jersey Shore." The correct way to say it is "down the Jersey Shore."
Details matter at 30,000 feet and, it turns out, online.
