Warriors of Wakanda took a road trip to Worcester this week to begin production on Black Panther II, with Cambridge on the location list for this weekend. Keep your eyes peeled as the sequel starts filming for this highly-anticipated sequel.

Back in April, Production Weekly reported the sequel under the working title “Summer Break," and on Wednesday, Marvel trucks were spotted cruising down the streets of Worcester. MassLive reported “a truck featuring Marvel Film Productions signage…behind the DCU Center.” Cautionary signs were hung on parking meters surrounding the truck, restricting any parking from August 22 to September 1.

Most recently, a letter went out to the community of MIT with an exciting announcement. It sounds like the university will be the next shooting location for the film.

From August 20-23, the MIT community will be taken over by the Marvel Production team as they utilize the streets surrounding the school for some driving scenes.

“Although we are not at liberty to share details of the plot at this stage, we believe that there is real value in MIT being represented in this film,” stated the university.

The purpose of the letter was to allow the community to plan accordingly, but it also created buzz amongst the student body, faculty, and the city.

It’s hard to believe a Black Panther without the iconic Chadwick Boseman, but with a backdrop like Massachusetts, it sounds like the kingdom of Wakanda may be taking a trip out West to continue its legacy. Keep your eyes peeled for stars like Angela Basset and Lupita Nyong’o this weekend.

“Summer Break," a.k.a. Wakanda Forever, is slated to hit theatres July 8, 2022.
