The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society has been selected as a beneficiary of the Shaw’s Community Bag Program for the entire month of August. The Shaw Community Bag Program first launched in April 2019, and its goal is to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

“As a non-profit and a conservation organization, the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society is thrilled to have been chosen by Shaw’s as a partner in the Community Bag program,” said Carrie Hawthorne, Curator of Education at the Zoo. “We hope lots of Shaw’s shoppers will be inspired to not only support the Zoo, but also join us in saying no to single-use plastics.”

Thanks to this program, the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society will receive a $1 donation every time someone purchases a $2.50 reusable Community Bag, unless otherwise noted by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

Buttonwood Park Zoo had just dedicated the month of July to the “Plastic Free Eco-Challenge," where they swapped out single-use plastics for more sustainable choices. The Community Bag program further will help their mission of educating the community on the importance of conservation.
