The battle continues in California as firefighters and crews continue to try and get a handle on the wildfires wreaking havoc in Los Angeles. Many of us on the SouthCoast, including myself, have been checking in on loved ones feeling helpless as the unimaginable is happening.

The American Red Cross and Salvation Army are among the many providing aid. Celebrities like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Jamie Lee Curtis and more have shown their support since the devastation began.

Now, the Boston Bruins Foundation is getting involved, providing a creative way to donate while getting some exercise at the same time.

The Boston Bruins Foundation celebrate 20 years during the 2023-2024 season. It has donated over $67 million since its inception, helping various organizations, events and initiatives in the community.

The foundation also supports first responder and military charities through their annual event, The BFit Challenge Powered by National Grid.

Described as "a one-of-a-kind event that invites members of the community to walk, run, or step to benefit First Responder and Military charities" takes place at TD Garden and welcomes EMTs, police departments, fire departments and residents from all across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

This year, the public is welcome to join or donate to the Boston Bruins Foundation's California Firefighters' Support Team. The team will be led by Boston Bruins Foundation President and Bruins alumnus Bob Sweeney.

All proceeds raised for the team will directly benefit California's firefighting relief efforts. The BBF California Firefighters' Support Team will take part in this year's BFit Challenge at TD Garden on Sunday, February 2.
