Brockton Police Make Arrest in Homicide Case
BROCKTON (WBSM) — An arrest has been made in an ongoing homicide investigation after a fatal shooting occurred in Brockton last week.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, Brockton Police officers and Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to reports of gunshots at 27 Vesey Street in Brockton on July 27.
Upon arrival, police discovered a young male outside the home with a fatal gunshot wound. Officials identified him as Romualdy Pierre-Charles, 22, of Brockton.
The initial investigation led law enforcement officials to file a warrant for the arrest of Marcus Miranda, 20, on several charges, including murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.
On Monday, July 28, shortly before 5 p.m., troopers from the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Detective Unit arrested Miranda at Logan International Airport as he was allegedly attempting to leave the United States.
Officials also filed a murder charge against Govanni Carapinha, 23, who is currently in custody on separate, unrelated charges.
Miranda will be arraigned on the charges in Brockton District Court as soon as today. The D.A.'s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
