Bomb Squad Called to Mosher Street in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD — The state police bomb squad is detonating a suspicious item on Mosher Street in New Bedford this morning at around 11:30 a.m., according to scanner chatter.
Police posted an advisory to Facebook at around 10 a.m. stating that there will be an increased police presence on Mosher Street as police and fire crews and state police investigate a "suspicious item" in that area.
The statement requests that residents and others avoid the neighborhood, noting that Mosher Street will be closed from County Street to Crapo Street.
Residents are reporting on social media that they are being evacuated due to a bomb scare.
