Bo Rock Visits Dartmouth for First Day of Doggy Daycare
We had a big day at the Rock house today, as our puppy, Bo, had his first official day of doggy daycare.
One of the reasons that I finally caved in on the idea of adopting a puppy was that the kids are hybrid learning, so they are only out of the house twice a week. This means that they would be able to take care of the dog's needs during the day without much hassle.
We don't really need doggy daycare, but other dog owners suggested that it might help to have Bo socialize with other dogs. I know it sounds crazy, and before we got Bo I'd probably be rolling my eyes at this, but we decided to send him out to get his hair and nails done (bath and nail trimming) followed by a playdate.
As I was doing the Michael and Maddie show this morning, I couldn't help but wonder how Bo's morning drop off went. Would he get along with the other dogs? How would he react to the bath?
My son was feeling the same way. He texted me, "Do you think the people there like him, Dad?" Here we are worried about a dog the way a parent would worry about dropping off a preschooler for the first time. I can't believe I'm now "that guy."
The staff at Emma Marie's must have read my mind because they kept texting me pictures of Bo's day. Between all the pampering and the fun and games with the other dogs in the courtyard, I think it's safe to say that Bo had a better day than I did.
When I went to go pick him up, he ran up to me like I hadn't seen him in a week. He smelled amazing and he was wearing a new bandana around his neck. He had an incredible time! I know he'll love going back.
