Specially modified insects can now make a gross remote control toy? It's the craze for Christmas this year! Not really. I made that part up. But not the cockroach part. That is very real now.

Scientists at the Technology, Entertainment and Design Conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Scotland showed their specially modified insects there last week.

According to The Edinburgh Evening News, roaches have been strapped with Bluetooth that sends signals via the antennae, which guide the bugs' movements.

Creator Greg Gage said he designed the technology as,

a tool to learn about how our brain works.

A very gross tool that is.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals isn't impressed though. They think it's inappropriate to encourage children to dismantle insects, and that means disgusting ones too.
