The Creators of Birdies Hot Chicken

Anthony Huynh and Vivian Chow are self-proclaimed foodies.

“When we travel, our entire trip revolves around food,” said Huynh.

In 2018, the couple traveled to Nashville, and that trip sparked the beginning of Birdies Hot Chicken.

“When Vivian had her first taste of Nashville Hot Chicken, she saw the potential in it,” said Huynh. “She was inspired to devise her own best version of it.”

Shortly after arriving home, the couple bought a fryer and set up shop in their apartment. They enlisted the help of friends to taste test their creations, and soon, the process evolved from a fryer “stinking up” the apartment to Chow frying her best version of hot chicken on a 3rd-floor apartment deck.

Now, orders of mouthwatering hot chicken are flying out of Birdies Hot Chicken in Brockton, Westwood, and Boston.

Their new location on Coggeshall Street will soon join the lineup of locations.

What to Expect at Birdies Hot Chicken

“Expect really good chicken,” said Huynh. “We’re foodies, so we would never sell anything that we wouldn’t want to eat ourselves.”

Birdies uses a variety of dry rubs that range from no spice at all to “The Grim Reaper”.

The Grim Reaper uses Carolina Reaper, and it’s so hot that customers are asked to sign a waiver before eating it.

“Each store has a plaque, and if a customer can eat a tender or chicken sandwich slider with the Grim Reaper rub, they’ll get a picture on the wall,” shared Huynh.

Now that’s hot.

Customers can’t seem to get enough of Birdies’ chicken tenders, chicken sliders, chicken wings, and more.

Huynh and Chow have come a long way since their apartment fryer and they look forward to bringing hot chicken to Coggeshall Street.

When Will Birdie’s Hot Chicken Be Open in New Bedford?

Huynh hopes to have Birdies up and running at 260 Coggeshall Street in three months.

“I want people to make it a part of their routine and I want people to embrace Birdies,” said Huynh.

Huynh and Chow are very proud of their growing restaurant, and they believe New Bedford foodies are going to fall in love with Birdie’s Hot Chicken.
