The Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury, Vermont is an absolute must-see if you're a New Englander. I recently returned from a trip to the Green Mountain State with my family and on the list was (once again) the delicious factory where some of our favorite ice cream flavors are concocted. The Vermont location is one of only three in the world that are churning, assembling and taste-testing the products. So which ones come out on top?

Behind the Scenes at the Waterbury, Vermont Factory

People visit from all over the world to see the production. In fact, it just so happened to be taking place the day we went. It's not always the case, as many days are allocated for carefully and painstakingly cleaning each and every part of the ice cream-making machinery.

Due to the secrecy of the operation, no photos are allowed while viewing the production, but I can assure you, it's impressive. While on a tour, we were able to see Cherry Garcia being made and packaged. We certainly learned a whole lot about the pint-making process, including their top sellers.

Secret Test Batches and Fresh Samples

If you're lucky, one of them may be the flavor you get to enjoy at the end of the tour. They may even surprise you with a test batch of a brand-new flavor yet-to-be-invented. Our sample was the Salted Caramel Blondie made with sweet cream ice cream, blonde brownies and a salted caramel swirl.
