Home to the Ben & Jerry's factory, this sweet stop is a must for ice cream lovers and families alike.

We visited the factory with our children over the summer and had a deliciously fun time.

Where Is the Ben & Jerry's Factory?

Located right on Route100, the Ben & Jerry's Factory features ice cream (duh), factory tours, merchandise, plenty of picnic tables for enjoying sweets outside, a playground for the kids and even a flavor graveyard.

The tour is a must as it's inexpensive and you learn a lot along the way, from the history of Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield to the ice cream-making process. The highlight is that you get to try some samples.

However, what I want to shine light on is the Flavor Graveyard.

Remembering Former Flavors

A sweet spot just a short walk past the factory, the Flavor Graveyard features over 40 flavors that have come and gone over the nearly five decades of business.

Flavors like Peanuts! Popcorn! just didn't make sense in ice cream form. Imagine soggy, chewy popcorn pieces in your dessert? No thanks.

On the other hand, flavors like Sugar Plum, which was thought to do well especially around the holidays, tanked in sales. It quickly made its way to the graveyard.

A visit to the Flavor Graveyard and factory is a must in my opinion.

You don't have to do the tour if it's not your thing. Just grab a cone and check out the flavors of the past. Plus, the view is beautiful.

Goodbye for Good?

It's important to note that flavors can and do come back. They call them zombie flavors and it's happened before.

Notice anything? It came and went three different times. Three.

See a flavor you like? If you're passionate enough and express your love to Ben & Jerry's for your favorite, who knows? It could be back on the shelves in the future.
