It's been quite the week for Apponequet Regional High School's outgoing class president Mason Macuch. Graduating was one of the more normal activities he's experienced lately.

During his speech at graduation, Macuch informed his classmates that he had hand-written personalized notes to all of them. He taped a note to the bottom of each graduate's seat and revealed the surprise from behind the podium.

The seemingly unprecedented act of kindness got Macuch instant attention, including an interview on Fun 107's Michael and Maddie earlier this week. Other local media outlets also jumped to cover the story, including Boston's WCVB-TV.

Just when Macuch thought his 15 minutes of fame were over, his phone blew up Friday morning.

"It was right after 8 o'clock and I got a text from my sister telling me that I was on The Today Show," Macuch said. "Then, my neighbor called and told me he was watching the story live on NBC."

The Today Show didn't interview Macuch but did share video from the commencement. The story appeared as part of cohost Hoda Kotb's "Morning Boost" segment, a platform for positive news from across America.

Macuch says no one from Today reached out to him.

"My best guess is they saw the Fun 107 story and decided to cover it," he said.

Macuch said he hopes his idea becomes a national trend after the exposure it got on national television.

"I hope more people do this," he said. "I think it's a nice gesture to do for the class."
