On the heels on David Letterman's announcement that he is leaving Late Night, another TV legend says she'll be calling it quits too.

Barbara Walters announced today that she is retiring from daily television and will be leaving ABC's The View this year. In fact Walters says May 16th will be her final show.

Clearly not wasting any time, 84-year-old Walters told AARP magazine that

The kinds of interviews I did all these years, nobody wants them anymore. You have three minutes of a morning show. That's different from before."

Walters has been with ABC since 1976, so they will of course be giving her a huge send off. They already have a two-hour special on her groundbreaking career planned for the night she retires and they will be keeping her on with ABC News to contribute from time to time.

No word on what kind of big name guests will be lined up for her final days on The View.
