An Important Acushnet Creamery Announcement
Today is our Food For Tots "Sweet Finale," where some of the best sweets and desserts on the SouthCoast will be featured as Food For Tots locations.
We have run into one little snag. As I write this, there is currently no power at Acushnet Creamery. They lost power overnight during the bomb cyclone. I spoke with the owners this morning, and they are very concerned about making sure they are still a part of today's Food For Tots.
Here's what they are going to do: Acushnet Creamery's Pier 3 New Bedford location will be open today for Food For Tots. If you planned on going to Acushnet Creamery, you can definitely go to the pier.
We just got word from Eversource that crews are, in fact, out working to restore power this morning. They are currently assessing the damage and hope to start getting people back up and running later today. If Acushnet Creamery's flagship location regains power, both locations will be participating in today's Food For Tots.
I'm not going to lie, I was a little concerned about the well being of all of that innocent ice cream in the store. I offered to go down and help eat all of the ice cream today if power wasn't restored. I mean, it would be a crying shame to see all of that Acushnet Creamery ice cream go to waste.
How long would it be able to survive without electricity? Ownership assured me that he has generators that power select plugs in the ice cream shop so that the main freezers can stay on. In other words, thanks but no thanks.
