New J.J. Abrams Movie From Rhode Island Gets Release Date
It was an incredibly active summer of movie making in Rhode Island last year.
From Jake Gyllenhaal and M. Night Shyamalan to Glen Powell and J.J. Abrams, big name stars and directors were all over the Ocean State filming scenes and drawing crowds of excited fans.
Now one of the upcoming projects has finally revealed its release date, as well as an all-new title.

When Glen Powell was first spotted filming scenes in Providence last August, crowds buzzed about his new movie, Ghostwriter.
What We Know About J.J. Abrams New Movie
The movie — J.J. Abrams’ first in six years — is reportedly about an author of fantasy novels who learns his imaginary world is actually real. Jenna Ortega and Samuel L. Jackson are part of the film as well, though only Ortega was also spotted filming in Rhode Island.

Months after the final scenes were shot, we now know a bit more about the release of this new Abrams thriller.
Release Date and Competition
Warner Bros. recently announced that Abrams' box office return will be November 13, 2026.
But that's not all Warner Bros. announced.
Seems Abrams' new movie also has a new title. Instead of Ghostwriter, the project is now being called The Great Beyond — and Warner Bros. must think they have something special here.

The November 2026 box office scene is full of big name projects. From a Johnny Depp-led new Christmas Carol movie, to the latest installments from The Hunger Games, The Chronicles of Narnia and Meet the Fockers, huge stars in highly anticipated projects debut in November. Adding a movie with a changing title and nearly no plot details to that mix seems like a sign this one is a hit.
We'll all have to wait until the fall to find out for ourselves, as well as see Rhode Island represented on the big screen yet again.
