From New England Patriot to Convicted Murderer, the Story of Aaron Hernandez Is Coming to FX
The story of Aaron Hernandez is coming to FX and Hulu.
The Bristol, CT native and former New England Patriots tight end made national headlines in 2013 after being charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, and that was only the beginning.
FX’s American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez depicts the rise and fall of the football star turned murderer and explores the demons he dealt with on and off the field.
Who is Aaron Hernandez?
Hernandez was drafted by the New England Patriots in 2010 and played three seasons with the organization. In 2013, his life took a hard left after he was arrested and charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd.
He was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2015, and while on trial for that murder, he was indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
He was acquitted after a trial in 2017, but days after, he was found dead in his cell.
The death was ruled a suicide.

FX’s American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez
“This 10-episode limited series charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez and explores the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American cultures,” said the network.
Josh Rivera takes on the role of Aaron Hernandez after blowing the producers away with his audition.
“He stole the part,” said one of the producers, Nina Jacobson, to IndieWire. “He is a grounded, likable, natural, and compelling presence, super-prepared. I was thrilled once they brought in a bunch of people, and let Josh rise to the top, which I knew he would.”
The two-episode premiere of American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez is on September 17th at 10 pm EST on FX and is later available to stream on Hulu.
