Tom Brady Returning to Foxboro’s Gillette Stadium
Many New England Patriots fans would turn cartwheels if the Greatest of All Time, Tom Brady, were to lead the team out of the tunnel and onto the field at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium once again.
Don't expect it to happen because the G.O.A.T. is now an old goat (relatively speaking) at age 46 and has no plans to un-retire a second time.
Brady will return to Gillette Stadium at some point. He has a lucrative deal to call football games for Fox Sports this season. His first regular season game will be Sunday, September 8, 2024, as the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns mix it up in their season openers.
Brady will also return to Gillette this season as a 12-foot bronze statue.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced the commissioning of the statue during Brady's Patriots Hall of Fame induction in June, during which Brady's jersey No. 12 was retired.
According to Kraft, the statue will be dedicated during the 2024 football season, but there have been no details about when it might happen.
Brady led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles.
Patsfans.com says Brady won't be the only NFL greats immortalized with a statue. Others include Peyton Manning, Johnny Unitas, Vince Lombardi and Dan Marino.
Of the Brady statue, Kraft said, "We wanted the greatest to be the first to receive an even greater honor. So last year, we commissioned a local sculptor to create a larger-than-life bronze statue to perpetuate the legendary legacy of this once-in-a-lifetime player."
Kraft said the statute of Brady will "stand alone in the plaza outside of the Hall of Fame to symbolize his position, not as the greatest in franchise history, but the greatest in all of NFL history."
We'll let you know when the unveiling is.
