Staying Active This Winter [SPONSORED]

Baby it’s cold outside, and it’s only getting colder. Here are five tips to prevent you from falling into a winter workout slump and keep active through the winter.

Go for a Walk: There’s no need to stop being active when the weather is too cold. Find ways to move indoors! Walking around your local mall is a great way to get your blood pumping and keep yourself active during the cold winter months. It’s an excuse to get out of the cold and window shop while burning calories in the process. Grab a friend and head to your local mall for a free, fun way to stay active this winter. Many malls have early morning hours to accommodate walkers.

Join the Gym or your local YMCA: Winter is the best time to invest in a gym or YMCA membership. You’ll have access to gym equipment and exercise classes, such as zumba and kickboxing and many other activities to keep you moving.

Workout at Home: Working out from the comfort of your own home is convenient and easy. There are several workout DVDs on the market to choose from that will keep you fit during the cold winter months. Whether zumba, yoga, or weight training interest you, invest in a few different options and find an open space in your home. If you’re looking to invest a little more in your winter workout and have the space to do so, consider purchasing exercise equipment for your home. Whether it’s weights, cardio machines, or other types of fitness equipment, you and your family will be able to workout together from home and stay consistent together.

Go the Extra Mile: You can make small changes this winter that will have a big impact on your health, simply by encouraging yourself to go the extra mile. Bundle up in your favorite jacket and park a little further away in the parking lot at the grocery store, and take the stairs instead of the elevator when you can. Making small changes like these will cause you to take extra steps everyday, which in turn will help you burn more calories and prevent your body from becoming lethargic. You’ll thank yourself in the Spring.
