Liquid Gold

By: Lara Harrington, ISSA, ACSM

I don't think I need to tell you how important it is to stay hydrated, but I will  :)

Water consumption is a major part of the 10 in 10 Challenge. There is a minimum daily requirement based on weight We are mostly water. Your internal organs require a high level of hydration to function optimally and will be thrilled if you're frequenting the bathroom (as long as it's not a UTI). Not to mention how great water is for your largest organ your skin.

Here's the other thing many times thirst is confused for hunger. If you feel insatiable, try drinking lots of water. You're probably dehydrated. Remember, the water is the liquid gold not your urine. If the toilet looks like a pot of gold after you go, you best drink up. Try flavored seltzer (NOT sugary tonic) to jazz things up.

When you're trying to stay away from that late night snack, have yourself a tall glass of water. So what if you have to get up to pee your internal organs will be thanking you. ALSO, bring a glass of water to your bedside. Before getting out of bed, take your time and drink a full glass. This will give you time to ease into the morning, focus on your mantra, and provide your system with liquid gold. Water before bed and first thing in the am is a terrific way to allow your liver to flush all kinds of crud from your system. It does it's best work while you sleep :)
