Buy Nothing SouthCoast is one of the many Facebook groups dedicated to giving new life to people's unwanted items. Neighbors post items they no longer need, while others claim what’s up for grabs

Think "one man's trash is another man's treasure." It's essentially an online yard sale, but one where everything is free.

Soup That Fed More Than Hunger

Pimental had made a large batch of minestrone, which she said resembles Venus de Milo soup, a favorite here on the SouthCoast.

After scooping soup into her own bowls, she decided to offer up the rest on the Buy Nothing SouthCoast Facebook page. "I thought maybe people will take me up on it, and they did," Pimental said.

"Some people even private messaged me," Pimental added, understanding that not everyone is comfortable sharing their need for food and/or assistance.

So many were claiming a serving of Pimental's soup, something she wasn't expecting. "I even had them bring their own bowls, because I had no more bowls to just give away," she said.

Her simple gesture of soup warmed the stomachs and hearts of nearby neighbors.

"I know it's hard and if I have it, I feel like I should be giving back," Pimental said.
