Westport Couple Brewing Up a Business With Gooseberry Coffee Company
A husband and wife from Westport are turning their love of coffee into a blossoming business that will soon bring a storefront to town.
Sean and Chelsea Connolly have always had a love for finding a good coffee shop. They would rather meet friends over a good cup of coffee then go out. Little did they know their love for coffee would lead them to opening a business, Gooseberry Coffee Company.
Sean is from Westport and Chelsea is a New Bedford native, so they know the area and its people well They hope to be able to connect the community through coffee and be involved in various missions across the SouthCoast.

So where did this all begin?
Sean had suffered a cardiac emergency back in 2022, leaving him to do nothing much but recover. Like most would, he got bored just sitting at home and picked up the hobby of roasting his own coffee beans.
"(I) quickly fell in love with the process," he said. "It’s a combination of creativity and precision."
He started sharing with his friends, then the local fire station and so on. People were loving the coffee, especially the picky firefighters.

Sean's coffee roasting hobby has transformed a bit and the Connellys will now be selling their flagship blend called "Good Local" online.
Some Westport residents may have noticed some incremental steps towards Gooseberry Coffee Company having a storefront and wondering when it's going to happen, but we can clarify why there's been a wait.

The Connellys are looking forward to opening the business soon, but they have something a little more important to get to first: Chelsea is expecting a baby this summer.
The couple has waited a long time for this little one to enter the world, so while the Connellys look forward to eventually providing some on-the-go coffee needs, their priority will be their newborn.

We are so excited for these two and will absolutely keep you in the know so you can support them and their amazing coffee.
"We hope to make a product that our community can be proud of, and look forward to serving and giving back," Sean said.
