Weekend Family Getaway in Vermont [PICS]

It's not often that I actually ever take a day off or go on vacation, but I am so glad I finally did.

My mother is having a special birthday this year. I won't say how young my mom is , but because of this special age, we wanted to take her to a place she's always longed to see. She is a huge fan of the Von Trapp family. And not just the Sound Of Music movie version we are all familiar with, the actual family.

So to make this year special, we decided to take her to the Trapp Lodge in Stowe, VT. This is truly God's country. We are actually staying at Smugglers Notch, which I highly recommend for any family looking for a nice getaway. We are in the mountains and it is beautiful. We are traveling through the most scenic and serene areas of the state.

I only wish we could stay longer. This place will definitely be a repeat. And did I mention, we visited the Ben and Jerry's Factory. Major score! This is the perfect family getaway area of you're looking for something to do, anytime of year!
