For the first time ever, Water Wizz in Wareham is opening its gates in a big way for the community.

On June 13 and 14, Wareham residents will be invited to enjoy a free day at the popular water park as part of what is being called "Wareham Weekend." Residents will need proper identification validating that they live in Wareham to take advantage of the offer.

"I've been here 38 years, so I'm really excited about how great this is going to be for the community," Water Wizz Assistant General Manager Suzanne James said.

Why Water Wizz Is Doing This

James said the idea came from the park’s owner David Darling, who has made giving back to the community a priority. Since Darling took over ownership in 2022, Water Wizz has hosted several events to help local families enjoy the park, including free visits for school groups.

"Our new owner is really big on giving back, and a lot of Wareham kids just can't afford to come to Water Wizz, which is sad," James said.

How the Free Water Wizz Free Wareham Weekend Will Work

Because demand is expected to be extreme, the park is spreading the event over two days to try to accommodate as many people as possible.

Organizers are working on a sign-up system to help manage capacity and avoid overcrowding. While Water Wizz is used to handling large crowds, there are limits to how many guests can safely be inside the park at one time.

That is one of the biggest concerns from management at this point, that the event might be too popular. "I'm nervous because I don't want to have to turn a little kid away because we can't fit him in here. I'd feel terrible," James said.

Clearly, that's the last thing in the world Water Wizz is trying to do. The business's goal is to allow families, and children in particular, to experience the joy of its famous water park.

Could This Become a Tradition

If the first Wareham Weekend goes well, there is hope that it could become an annual tradition.

For now, the team is focused on making sure everything runs smoothly and that Wareham families get a chance to enjoy a memorable day at one of the SouthCoast’s most popular summer destinations.

We're hoping the crowds on June 13 and 14 remember that Water Wizz is trying to do something really nice for the people of Wareham. It would be so terrific to have this spread so much positivity that they want to do it again and again.
