New Years Eve has got to be one of the most popular party nights of the year (if not the most popular). But not everyone has what it takes to make it to midnight.

At my father's retirement community in Florida, they plan their annual ball drop for 8PM so residents can head home early.

But in Warwick, the party is ending even earlier and I am 100% here for it.

As a parent you have a couple of New Years Eve options.

1. Pay a babysitter so you can go out and party, then deal with the kids and potential hangover the next morning.

2. Figure out what you can do with the kids.

It is this second option that Warwick must have had in mind when they planned their early evening New Years Eve fireworks show.

The event is scheduled to start at 3PM at Rocky Point State Park and features food trucks, festive music and giveaways before ending with a fireworks display over the water at 6PM sharp.

It's clearly one of the reasons Warwick made travel expert Mark Ellwood's list of last-minute holiday vacation spots on The Today Show recently.

This family friendly event lets you get out of the house, grab a bite to eat, see one of only two New Years Eve fireworks displays in all of Rhode Island and still be home for an early night.

Sounds like a perfect way to ring in the New Year to me.

10 Things to Do for Your Dog if They're Scared By Fireworks

The dog who likes fireworks probably is a good hunting dog too. But, not mine, and not a lot of other dogs on the Fourth of July. But there are things you can do to help your furry kid get through fireworks season without going totally insane.

The American Kennel Club has all kinds of advice on how to get your pooch through the entire summer in good shape. But for the Independence Day holiday, they have 10 tips on how to keep your dog calm.
