On Friday, April 14, 2017, the Wareham Police Department Detective Division received anonymous reports of illegal drug dealing in the area of Second Ave. in Wareham.

During investigation of the complaints, Detective Dean Decas made observations in the area and noticed a male, later identified as 24-year-old Wareham resident Erique Gomes, meet with a vehicle in the area of Second Avenue and conduct what appeared to be a drug sale involving the occupants of the vehicle.

Detective Decas and patrol officers then approached the vehicle and conducted further investigation, during which time a large plastic bag containing approximately 10 ounces of marijuana, plastic baggies, a digital scale, and $1,876 cash was found in a backpack carried by Erique Gomes.

Mr. Gomes was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with Distribution of a Class D Substance, Possession of a Class D Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.  

Mr. Gomes is currently being held in custody at the Wareham Police Department and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at Wareham District Court on Tuesday, April 18th.
