WAREHAM (WBSM) — A Wareham man was arrested after he allegedly fled from police when they attempted to stop his vehicle on Saturday.

According to Wareham Police, an officer attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop at about 4:52 p.m. on February 1 on Minot Avenue.

The operator of the white sedan was later identified as Lovell Johnson, 35, of Wareham. Police said Johnson failed to stop for the officer and let police on a pursuit throughout Wareham and Onset.

Officers deployed “stop sticks” to deflate Johnson’s tires, and police said the vehicle eventually became disabled and stopped in the Onset section of town. They said Johnson exited the vehicle and led officers on a brief foot chase before being taken into custody.

Johnson is charged with various motor vehicle violations as well as resisting arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Wareham District Court.
