It was the 1960s and two (potentially local) lovebirds tied the knot.

While they hang on to the memories of that day, there's one item they aren't holding onto: a wedding band.

Recently unearthed at Gateway Tavern in Wareham, the wedding band caught the eye of a tiler who was busy working on the restaurant's renovations.

The popular restaurant shared the news back in January on their Facebook page regarding the upcoming changes:

"Please note, we will be closed for a renovation refresh January 27th - with an expected reopen date of February 24th."

About a month later, we stumbled upon their recent discovery after reading another Facebook post from the Gateway Tavern.

"We’ve been busy renovating… and in the process we have found a wedding band with an inscription & date. If you think this might be yours, please email us at thegatewaytavern@gmail.com or give us a call at 508-291-6040. We hope we can reunite this ring with the owner - what a great Valentine's love story that would be!!"

A long-lost treasure symbolizing true love found on Valentine's Day. Serendipitous? I think so.

The wedding band, which is said to be in "pretty decent condition" according to General Manager Kelsie Allen, was found in the dining room near the windows. Allen said "there’s only three booths that go along those windows," so if this was a favorite spot of yours, your parents or even grandparents, you may be in luck.

The Gateway Tavern is looking to reunite the wedding band with the owner or family member. There is some additional information being kept from the public to ensure that the ring ends up in the right hands.

Could this be yours? If so, you can email TheGatewayTavern@gmail.com. Please help us spread the word in hopes of putting a fairytale ending on this story.
