WAREHAM (WBSM) — An East Wareham man was arrested today after police say he was allegedly entering local banks while wearing a mask and a wig.

According to Wareham Police, officers were dispatched to the Cranberry Plaza in East Wareham to both the Rockland Trust Bank and the Santander Bank for a report of a suspicious man wearing a mask and a wig.

“The male’s appearance and demeanor caused extreme concern to the bank employees and customers at both banks,” police said.

The bank employees provided police with a detailed description of the man, as well as the color of the bicycle he was seen riding. Police soon located the man less than a quarter-mile down the street, in the area of Cranberry Highway and Tyler Avenue.

He was identified as James Morrison, 33, of East Wareham.

Following the conclusion of their investigation, police placed Morrison in custody without incident. He is charged with two counts of attempting to commit a crime (unarmed robbery) and two counts of disturbing the peace.

Morrison will be arraigned Tuesday in Wareham District Court.
