New Bedford Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the North End that led to a pickup truck slamming into a duplex at the intersection of Ashely Boulevard and Maryland Street.

According to District Fire Chief Joseph Gioiosa, the pickup truck and a car collided around 2:26 p.m., with the truck veering off the road into the duplex, which contained a beauty parlor and a residential home.

Chief Gioiosa said there were no injuries reported, but the truck caused extensive damage to the business.

A video of the incident obtained by WBSM News shows the truck attempting a right-hand turn with the car coming from behind and colliding with the truck. The car traveled down Maryland Street before coming to a stop.

Gioiosa says the city's Building Department was called in to install some wooden beams so the structure wouldn't collapse when the truck was pulled out.

The car that collided with the truck sustained some front end damage. It's not clear if any charges will be filed.
