Update: Mattapoisett Man Killed in Marion Roll-Over

This statement was released Saturday Morning by the Massachusetts State Police:

Massachusetts State Police Media Release— State Police Investigate Fatal Crash Route 195 Eastbound in Marion

This morning at approximately 7:00 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Bourne responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash that resulted in the death of the driver identified as 55-year old Robert Xifaras of Mattapoisett.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Shawn Harris indicates that a 2014 Hyundai Velost was traveling eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the operator, and sole occupant, lost control of the vehicle and veered left into the median and rolled over.

The driver was determined to be deceased at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.

State Police was assisted on scene by Marion Fire, EMS and police, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and MA DOT.

The left travel lane was closed for approximately three hours to accommodate the investigation.
