Ultimate Waterfront Home, See Maine Coast Guard Station For Sale
A home once meant to protect people on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean is now a property that boasts some of the best views of them.
Sitting on the very edge of the Southeast Point on Maine's Little Cranberry Island is a 13-acre property dubbed 'The Station.'
Built from 1879-1880 as a US Coast Guard Life Saving Station, it is now a private residence that you could call home for $6.5 million.
'The Station' has a history built around the fishing industry.
Built to protect fishing vessels from the rocky coastline and strategically located to help rescue sailors on ships in distress, the men who worked here probably saved hundreds of lives throughout the years.

Now a piece of that great history can be yours, not only with the 3,074 square foot house, but with period furniture and décor that are being sold with it.
Though the life saving station was decommissioned in 1946 and artifacts from its former life remain, there have been many updates to the property throughout the last 70-plus years.
The kitchen was updated, a two-bedroom guesthouse over a three-car garage was added to the property and a deep-water dock was recently added to round out life literally on the water.
