There are reports that the U.S. Capitol is on lockdown for a second straight day.

Authorities are responding to reports of a suspicious package in the area.

Police say they spotted the unattended package minutes after the Capitol Visitors Center opened this morning.

The lockdown comes a day after a man was shot and wounded by police after pointing a gun at the Center.
