Update at 1:37 p.m. — A spokesperson for the fire department said both people involved in the car crash were taken to Tobey Hospital, but their current condition is unknown.

WAREHAM — Two people had to be extricated from their heavily damaged cars this morning in a crash on Route 25 East in Wareham, according to the Wareham Fire Department.

The department stated in a Facebook post later this morning that both drivers were removed within a few minutes and placed in the care of Wareham Emergency Medical Services.

Their current condition is unclear, and Wareham EMS was unable to respond to a request for comment.

The crash took place shortly after 7 a.m. on Thursday, according to the fire department's post.

Both Engine 1 and Rescue 1 crews got the drivers out of the vehicles, the post noted.
