After being forced to shut down her location on Alden Road last year, Karyn Ferreira is proud to open the doors to her new store on Sarah’s Way and return to the customers she considers family.

Who Is Karyn Ferreira?

In 2013, Ferreira opened her first Tropical Smoothie location in Fairhaven. She quickly gained a loyal customer base, but in 2023, she was asked to vacate Alden Road to make way for a new construction.

In less than one year, the business owner was able to lock in a new location in the CVS plaza.

“I’m so passionate about my customers in Fairhaven, they are like family to me,” she said.

During Ferreira’s grand opening celebration on Thursday, it was clear that Fairhaven residents were ecstatic to have Tropical Smoothie back.

Loyal customers from her previous location and curious new ones stopped by the cafe to try samples, win prizes, and enjoy the smoothies they love the most.

“I’m just glad I don’t have to drive to New Bedford anymore,” joked a customer with a tray of smoothies in one hand and an acai bowl in the other.

Customers with the Tropical Smoothie app were entered to win a chance to win free smoothies for a year, and that award went to Nicole and her 4-year-old grandson, Alexander.

“Almost every other day, I’m here…I’m so excited,” said Nicole.

What to Expect at the New Tropical Smoothie Café

Ferreira aims to add a drive-thru to her new location, but in the meantime, customers can use the store’s convenient online ordering system.

Order online through the Tropical Smoothie app, and orders will be ready and waiting in the mobile app window at the front of the store.

When it comes to the menu, expect the same great quality that you know and love.

If you are looking to try something new, I recommend the Kiwi Quencher smoothie paired with the Chipotle flatbread.
