The holiday season is upon us. Signs of the season on the SouthCoast include local Christmas tree farms prepping for visitors, aisles of festive decor in every store, and the arrival of a delicious drink: Arruda's Dairy's beloved eggnog.

We spoke with the Tiverton family behind the holiday favorite to get the scoop on this holiday must-have and where you can get your hands on some.

A Tiverton Tradition Returns

"We always have people ask around Halloween when we will be making eggnog," Social Media Manager (and granddaughter of the Arrudas) Megan Dame said.

The return of the "favorite bottles with the gold caps" was shared on the Arruda's Dairy Facebook page.

Shortly after, dozens of comments came rolling in, expressing joy and craving the long-awaited return of the seasonal staple.

"Everyone is always excited when it comes out, and we will normally sell out weekly, especially closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas," Dame said.

You can find Arruda's Dairy eggnog on store shelves. It is even used in local recipes.

"We see a lot of customers like coffee shops start to incorporate the eggnog within specialty holiday coffees, bakeries with baked goods, breakfast spots with pancakes, etcetera, so it’s definitely a well-rounded staple for the season," Dame said.

Arruda's Dairy even made a special delivery to The MGM Show. Pints of eggnog, coffee milk and chocolate milk were enjoyed by all.

The first time I tried eggnog, it was spiked, and I found myself literally enjoying a cup of holiday cheer. That said, eggnog doesn't have to be spiked to be enjoyed. It doesn't have to be homemade or poured from a carton and drunk. It can be used as a wet ingredient, replacing milk and spicing up any holiday menu, especially for sweet treats and breakfast.
