SEEKONK — A Lynn man caught operating a small prostitution ring at a Seekonk motel in 2020 has been sentenced to serve three years in prison.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said 39-year-old Leonard Jenkins pleaded guilty on April 21 to deriving support from prostitution, attempting to get someone to commit perjury, and intimidation charges.

Jenkins was caught in October 2020, after Seekonk police responded to a call from a woman at the 341 Highland Ave. Quality Inn claiming that she was being held against her will.

The woman told dispatchers that she was hiding in the motel's front lobby, according to the D.A.'s office.

Officers arrived to find the woman, who told them Jenkins had thrown a remote control at her and that he wouldn't let her leave due to a purported debt.

She also said that both she and her daughter worked as prostitutes, and gave Jenkins the money they earned from their male clients.

Police found lingerie and adult DVDs in the room they were staying in, and a follow-up investigation confirmed her statements, the office noted.

Officers found Jenkins at a nearby gas station, where he was arrested.

Jenkins was sentenced to serve three years in prison and another year on probation after his release.

"I am glad the defendant was held accountable for selling the victims’ sexual services for money," said Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn.

"He clearly took advantage of the victims in a manipulative and despicable way."
