There are three people from little old Rhode Island as contestants on the upcoming 39th season of Survivor and one of them happens to be a local gym owner.

Aaron Meredith took to his Facebook page yesterday to happily break the news about his time as a Survivor contestant. His post (below) says it all.

Elizabeth Beisel of Saunderstown, Aaron Meredith of Warwick and Jamal Shipman of Providence are among several castaway contestants who will battle it out on the next season of Survivor on CBS.

Elizabeth is a three-time Olympian, two-time Olympic medalist, three-time NCAA champion and world champion for swimming. Aaron is a health and fitness enthusiast with his own personal training and gym business in Warwick, and Jamal is a college administrator who studied psychology at Brown University.

Is it just me, or do you find it strange that there are three people from the smallest state in the nation participating in the next Survivor season? It's pretty strange to me that the show's producers would choose more than one person per state. I mean, there must have been thousands of people from all over the country trying out for Survivor right?

I recently became friends with Aaron Meredith on Facebook and hope to be able to chat with him on the Rock and Fox Show sometime soon about his experience on Survivor (which happened back in March, by the way). He has posted a few times about how excited he is for all of his family and friends to see the upcoming season and just how well he did on the show.

The contestants have to be ready for Survivor: Island of the Idols, which premieres on CBS in a couple of weeks on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
