The Zeiterion to Remain Closed Through June of 2021
According to a recent release, the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center has announced that the building will remain closed for the next six months. Executive Director, Rosemary Gill sent the release to patrons of the past.
“When COVID-19 forced us to press pause back in March, it was impossible to predict where we would be today. After two rounds of rescheduling and canceling shows, I’m writing today to tell you that, with safety as the priority for our audience, staff, artists, and crew, we have come to the difficult decision to remain closed through June 2021.”
The Z is optimistic that performances will return to the stage for the second half of the year.
“We have worked with artists and agents to reschedule these shows for late 2021 and early 2022! The new dates are below, and tickets are now on sale. You can buy tickets with confidence; if a show is canceled or postponed for any reason, a refund or credit to another show is possible.”
The theater has remained dark over the past nine months, but there has been hope.
“We introduced The Z Drive-In and launched virtual programming and classes. We’re examining our equity and inclusion policies and practices, and we’ve established an anti-racist task force in order to become an organization that is transparent and accountable to our community.”
While the closure is guaranteed for the next six months, the SouthCoast community is encouraged to support the Z in any way possible.
“As a non-profit, we rely on our amazing donors, members, and sponsors, each year to make The Z possible. That is truer this year than ever before. Because we will be closed for another six months, we ask you to consider making a gift of $25 to The Z’s Resiliency effort. It is 100% tax-deductible and it is an enormous help while our doors remain closed. Your contribution ensures that The Z will return as the best version of itself, with the best artists available, with enriching and inclusive programs, and with our community at our heart. Together we will safeguard performing arts on the Southcoast for generations to come.”
