The Most Surprising Wedding Trends of 2018
While some of these are kind of 'strange' compared to your traditional wedding style, I actually LOVE them.
Here are four of my favorite wedding trends this year:
1. Let's start with the most important part of the wedding - the cake! 2018 has brought us some very much Abby-approved alternatives to you traditional cake, like doughnuts and drip cakes. Since I'm such a fan of doughnuts, I hope this trend sticks around for a LONG time.
2. Black is the new black, at least when it's paired with gold. A new stationary trend pairs black and gold on invitations and save the dates along with some different textures and patterns to make the gold really shimmer against the black. Again, I love black...so I am all about this.
3. Gone are the days of pastels and hot pinks or oranges for wedding receptions. Deep hues like burgundy, deep purple and red or black accents are trending in a big way for 2018. Same with metallics - chrome, silver, gold, and copper are all very popular this season.
4. Move over outdoor weddings! Or should we say 'move inside to an industrial space.' It's now extremely popular to host your ceremony or reception in a what an essential a polished up abandoned factory. It solves the problem of being panicked about weather and provides a super open, basic feel that puts the focus on the happy couple.
