Taunton Welcomes New Family-Owned Portuguese Restaurant Patricia’s Kitchen
A brand-new family-owned restaurant, Patricia’s Kitchen, opened its doors on Tuesday, October 15, bringing authentic Portuguese flavors to Taunton.
Located at 210 Weir Street, Patricia’s Kitchen is one of the only two Portuguese restaurants in the city, offering a blend of traditional Portuguese dishes and American classics.
The restaurant, run by Alex Silva and her family – father Jose, sister Joana and mother Patricia – is set to officially open on Wednesday, October 16. It held a grand opening event on Tuesday, October 15.
Named after the family’s matriarch Patricia Silva, who serves as the head chef, Patricia’s Kitchen honors her passion for cooking.
Alex explained the inspiration behind the name.
“My mom’s name is Patricia, she’s the chef and does all the cooking," she said. "We’re a Portuguese family, but our kitchen will be Portuguese/American. We’re looking to do American chop suey, fish and chips, and pasta Alfredo – a little bit of both to serve the entire community, not just Portuguese.”
While the menu will offer a variety of dishes, Alex’s personal favorite remains her mom’s house-made sirloin steak topped with a Portuguese sauce, an egg, French fries and rice.
“It’s the best meal ever,” she said.
Patricia’s Kitchen will operate as a take-out buffet and catering service, with hours from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.. In addition to savory meals, they will offer a selection of homemade desserts by Sweets by Kayla, including flan, chocolate mousse and cakes, delivered fresh throughout the week.
With over nine years of experience as a chef at Desa Fish Market in Taunton, Patricia’s culinary skills are well-known locally.
“We wanted to branch out and have our own legacy within the community,” Alex said. “We love the city of Taunton. Lived here my whole life, went to school here, and wouldn’t want to set up shop anywhere else.”
Patricia’s Kitchen aims to provide the warmth and comfort of a home-cooked meal in a fast-paced world.
“In a busy world, we want to have a home-cooked meal just as fast as going down to McDonald's,” Alex said. “We’re the only authentic Portuguese spot in Taunton and we can't wait to serve our customers and meet new faces.”
For anyone looking for a taste of both Portuguese tradition and American comfort food, Patricia’s Kitchen promises to be a new local favorite.
