The Story Behind Union Straw

Before opening in Taunton, Union Straw made a name for itself in Foxboro, with a vibe that takes guests back to early America and offers contemporary flair with every dish.

“The name pays homage to Union Straw Works, the first major business in Foxborough,” the restaurant says. “As the largest producer of straw hats in the world at the time, a prosperous community was beginning to take shape by the addition of Union Straw Works.”

Union Straw prides itself on being solely focused on the guest experience and aims to “enhance our community and bring friends, family and neighbors together over the love of delicious food and great times.”

That sounds promising, but what are the guests saying?

What to Expect at the New Union Straw in Taunton

Union Straw brought upscale American comfort food to Foxboro in 2018 and has earned itself a high rating on Yelp, with the vast majority of reviews pointing to friendly service and high-quality menu items.

“This place was amazing from start to finish,” one Yelp user wrote. “The atmosphere, the staff, and by far the food. ... Everything was like a party for the mouth!”

When the new spot officially announced its opening, it was met with a lot of enthusiasm online.

“Love this place and now it’s in our town!” one online user wrote.

“So excited for this!” wrote another.

The reviews are promising and so is the diverse menu. From the sounds of it, Taunton has found itself a new upscale watering hole.
