Taunton Celebrates Final Days of Summer With Fireworks and More
TAUNTON (WBSM) — Although summer is ending, what better way to hold onto the remaining days than a celebration with entertainment, food and community?
Mayor Shaunna O'Connell and Taunton's Parks and Recreation are teaming up to host the 2024 Summer Celebration on August 22 at Hopewell Park, 5 to 9 p.m.
"Our local partners are bringing their energy, resources and enthusiasm to make this event truly special," O'Connell said in a news release.
The summer months pass quickly. With the end of August near, school is close to being back in session for kids, if not already.
One minute, you're at the beach all hours of the day, and before you know it, store shelves are filled with backpacks and school supplies.
The seasonal transition is more likely to be grieved by students, but adults and parents also have their share of emotions as we head into the fall.
You might not be able to fight off the end of summer blues, but gathering your friends and family to be part of Taunton's summer celebration can make the final days worth it.
This year, the city also revealed a fireworks display as part of the celebrations, creating a night for the whole community to enjoy. Kona Ice and Mike's Ice Cream will also feature sweet treats.
In case of rain, the summer celebration will be rescheduled for August 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
