
Taunton Shooting Incident Ends in Fire Hydrant Crash and Arrest
TAUNTON (WBSM) — Two people were shot recently in an overnight incident in Taunton, and a juvenile was arrested on an outstanding warrant as a result.
Gunfire Erupts on Adams Street in Taunton
According to Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh, officers responded at about 11:06 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, to multiple reports of gunshots in the area of Adams Street.
Car Crash Causes Significant Neighborhood Flooding
Officers arrived to find a vehicle had crashed into a fire hydrant and had been struck by gunfire. Walsh said the dislodged hydrant caused significant flooding in the area.
Three people were transported to local hospitals. A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds that Walsh said did not appear to be life-threatening. Another 16-year-old boy suffered injuries related to the crash.

During the investigation, officers recovered two firearms believed to be connected to the incident. Walsh said multiple residences in the area were struck by gunfire, but no injuries were reported.
Shooting Investigation Uncovers Wanted Juvenile
It was also learned that the 16-year-old who was injured in the crash had an active warrant for his arrest related to a shooting in Taunton on January 16, 2025. He was placed under arrest and taken for medical treatment before being held on the warrant.
Walsh said the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
