FREETOWN — A Taunton man is facing charges for larceny and resisting arrest among others after he allegedly failed to break into a Freetown home before stealing a package from the porch.

Freetown police said 42-year-old Hovanne Dolarian of Old Colony Road in Taunton is also charged with attempting to commit a crime.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person trying to gain entry into a North Main Street home at around 9:53 p.m. Friday.

Home surveillance video showed a man trying to enter the home through a locked door, then — after failing to do so — walking to a front porch and taking an Amazon package.

The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle, according to police — but officers found a man matching the suspect's description driving nearby.

After stopping him, police said the driver — later identified as Dolarian — refused to identify himself and allegedly resisted arrest.

Police said the officers recovered the Amazon package from the vehicle during the arrest.

Dolarian has been taken to the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth prior to arraignment in Fall River District Court.
