Taunton High Student-Run Restaurant to Offer South Shore Bar Pizza
TAUNTON (WBSM) — Last week, we told you how South Shore Bar Pizza was now available at two different New Bedford bars.
Now, a younger generation is getting into the bar pizza game, as Taunton High School’s student-run restaurant will soon be offering the pizzas known for their cracker-like crust and cheddar-mozzarella cheese blend made famous in places like Brockton, Randolph and Stoughton (what we’re calling “The Barpizza Triangle,” a takeoff on the Bridgewater Triangle).
Culinary Instructor Sarah Gibson told us that this will be a new recipe that will be offered at the Taunton High School Culinary Tiger Den.
“Our students love all pizzas,” Gibson said of the introduction of bar pizza to the menu. “But they are excited to try and develop new recipes.”
Gibson said the idea to try out bar pizzas came from new restaurant manager and lead chef Brendan Johnson.
“We used our previous dough recipe and adapted it,” Gibson said. “The students tested sauce recipes.”
Gibson said she wasn’t quite sure yet what the price would be, but previous pizzas served in the Tiger Den have been $5. The bar pizzas will be available for both dine-in and takeout at the Tiger Den, just as with all the meals offered there.
So when can the public start ordering Taunton Tiger Bar Pizza?
“The restaurant will be open soon, in the next week or so,” Gibson said, noting they are awaiting a new point-of-sale computer system.
She said stay tuned to the THS Culinary Tiger Den Facebook page for an official opening date.
