What is Oktoberfest? It started in 1810 to celebrate the nuptials of German King Ludwig I to his princess Therese of Saxe-Hidburghausen in Germany. The festival in Germany is now a 16 day event in Munich that draws people from all over the world to celebrate Bavarian culture where 7 million litres of beer are consumed.
