Apparently there has been talk of this change for awhile now, but I just saw the first commercial for it last night and got very excited.

Seems Chili's has installed thousands of tablets right at their tables in restaurants across the country, trying out a new way to order and pay for your meal.

I haven't been to a Chili's in a long time, so if there is one near us doing this, I would love to know cause I think this idea is genius! I mean the worst thing at the end of a meal is sitting waiting to get your servers attention so you can get your check and leave. Especially when you're just trying to grab a quick lunch and get back to work.

These tablets at the tables are intended to alleviate this according to the company. In an article from the Washington Post, the company says they hope the tablets will lessen the burden on wait-staff by automatically relaying orders to the kitchen and expediting payment.

And it seems to be working in stores where they are up and running already.

Service is said to be quicker, orders get sent right to the kitchen so wait staff can move right on to helping someone else and at the end of the meal you don't have to wait for your server to process your check. The tablets also come equipped with games and for .99 cents you can keep your child entertained while you wait for your food.

Seems like this idea is really going to take off because Applebee's says they want 100,000 tablets in their restaurants by the end of this year and Uno's Pizzeria and Red Robin are said to be working on similar devices.

So what do you think of using a tablet at your table to order up a drink, dessert and pay for your meal? Do you hope to see more of these as much as I do?
