Surprising and Sad News From Popular Taunton Restaurant
While many SouthCoasters were hitting the beach and backyard barbecuing this past weekend, the owners of Liberty & Union Ale House were making some tough decisions.
The Trescott Street eatery in Taunton has been serving traditional American cuisine to diners for seven years but has decided it's time to call it quits.
Not completely, though.
In a recent Facebook post, Liberty & Union owners Chris and Kari Coute announced that on Sept. 15 they will close the doors to the popular pub for good.
In their lengthy letter to Liberty & Union fans, Chris and Kari talked about the number of hours they've put into their restaurant over the last seven years and just how much time Kari in particular has given to running things smoothly.
One can only assume the pair are ready for a break from their hectic schedule and are closing to give themselves that break.
No fear for those worried about losing a great place to eat in Taunton, however. Chris and Kari have already leased Liberty & Union's space to an experienced restaurant group that will have a new restaurant open by early 2024.
In the meantime, you've got about a week to head to Taunton to check out Liberty & Union again or for the very first time.
For those with gift cards to use up, you can use them at Liberty & Union until Sept. 15. Cards will be honored at their sister restaurant, The National Charter 957, in downtown Taunton after that.
