This Sunday, September 23, Meeting Street will be hosting its annual Superhero Walk & 5K Race. The event will take place at the Fort Taber Community Center to help raise funds to help children with special educational and developmental needs.

After the 8:30 a.m. check ins and 9 a.m. welcoming remarks, the walk and race will both start at the center at 9:15 a.m. Walkers will go around the perimeter of Fort Taber while runners will following the USATF certified 5K course through the local community.

An award ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., with categories being Overall Winner, Top Female, Top Male, Top Teen, Top Fundraiser, and Team with Largest Number of Walkers.

Walking will be free, but those who would like to participate in the 5K run will have a $25 registration fee per person. Light refreshments will be provided to all race participants, with water stations being setup up along the 5K course route.

We have been big fans of the work that is done each day at the Schwartz Center in Dartmouth. It is because of this work, local families here on the SouthCoast don't have to travel up to Boston or to Providence to get the specialized services their children need.
