Southcoast Storm Elite All Star Cheerleading of New Bedford, MA will be traveling today to the happiest place on earth. Their Junior Level 2 All Star team, dubbed Tornado, has earned a bid to compete at the D2 Summit National Championships in Orlando, FL. The D2 Summit is an invite-only, national championship where the best teams from across the country will face-off at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida from May 12th-14th.

Tornado is comprised of 13 girls aged 8-14 from all over Southcoast MA and RI. The team has competed throughout New England since December earning many first place wins.

"We are a newer gym in our second season, and never dreamed we'd earn such an honor so fast. Less than 10% of teams in the country earn bids each year, so honestly, a bid wasn't even on our radar. We are extremely proud of our girls though and so thankful to the community who helped us fundraise and sponsored their trip. They helped make 13 hard working athletes' dreams come true. Their theme this year was 'faith, trust and pixie dust,' which they chanted before each comp," said Chari Hurley, who co-owns the gym with her husband Dan and business partner Michelle Carvalho. "We are also so thankful to our amazing coaches who devote so much time and love to their teams. We are more than a gym, we are a family."

Tornado is coached by Chari and Michelle, along with Janessa Conceicao, Maeghan Thomas and Shawna Fournier. Tornado's team members include:

Angel Bzdula, 13
